Both federal and Michigan law protects consumers from unwanted telemarketing calls on their home and cell phone. The Telephone Consumer Protection Act requires telemarketers to check the Do Not Call Registry before placing calls to residential and cell phones. If your number appears on the registry, these companies aren’t allowed to call you.
If you haven’t already done so, register your home and/or cell phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. By registering, you can cut down on telemarketing calls and reclaim a piece of your privacy. Also, download our free, convenient Telephone Log at the link below. Use this log to list any unwanted or junk calls you receive. As long as you document the call shortly after it happens, this log can be used as evidence in court.
If you’re still getting unwanted calls — or you’re getting spam text messages or “robodialed” calls on your cell phone — document the calls in the Telephone Log, then contact us by using the form below. As Michigan’s leading consumer protection firm, we’ll work to ensure you’re no longer harassed by these calls.
This information is used for us to gauge where you are in the process so we can better help you through the process.
